Exchange Server 2010 - MIgration from Exchange 2003

It all started with me downloading the exchange 2010 vhd file (8gb?) from MS site a couple of months back. That was when i had no access to office 2010 beta programme. I was very much impressed by the clean and neat OWA interface. It looked simply awesome for someone who has been used to the blueish exchange 2003 web access. The gtalk like chat applet on the website made me want it more and I vowed to go on to exchange 2010 before 2010 (as in before 1st jan 2010). After reading though quite a lot about the steps to upgrade, things to consider and the dire consequence of upgrade, I almost gave up the thought of migrating to exchange 2010. If only I hadnt done the upgrade, i would have definetely thought it is as difficult as it is being mentioned on quite a lot of websites, but it isnt.

Things that you need to know before you upgrade to Exchange 2010 (no questions please - if you simply follow this, you will be able to install, and if you want to deviate, please feel free to follow the complicated and confusing steps from other sites)

NOTE : It is assumed that you run a single exchange 2003 server and have sufficient downtime to move the mailbox from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010.

1. Upgrade your domain to windowns 2008 ( not essential, preferred though - Windows 2003 SP2 or Windows 2003 R2 should do. DO AN IN PLACE UPGRADE. ANY SERVER THAT SUPPORTS WINDOWS 2003 WILL NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH INPLACE UPGRADE). Click here for more details .

2.(feeling sleepy now - will update later..chao..)
